Shepherd’s Voice

Rev. Fr. Nicholas Kulranjan

Parish Priest (2010 – 2016)

I thank God for the beautiful opportunity to walk together with the faithful of this parish during the six years I served as the Parish Priest of Our Lady of Fatima Cathedral. Those years were truly a time of grace, spiritual growth, and deepening faith for our parish community. From the very beginning of my ministry here, I felt that the strength of a parish lies in the spiritual life of its people. Therefore, special importance was given to prayer, the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, and various spiritual activities that helped nourish the faith of the community. Many parish programs, devotions, retreats and gatherings were organized so that the faithful could come together regularly to pray and grow closer to God. One of the most meaningful aspects of my pastoral ministry was visiting the families of the parish. I made it a point to visit homes from time to time, not only to bless the families but also to listen to them, share their joys and concerns, and encourage them in their faith journey. These visits helped build a close relationship between the parish and its members, strengthening the sense that we truly belong to one faith family. I also gave special attention to catechism and faith formation, particularly for children and young people. It has always been my belief that the future of the Church depends greatly on how well we nurture the faith of the younger generation. Through catechism classes, guidance for teachers, and encouragement to parents, we tried to help children grow in their understanding and love of the Gospel. The cooperation, faith, and commitment of the parishioners made it possible to carry out many spiritual activities and parish initiatives. Together we tried to build a community that was rooted in prayer, strengthened by the Word of God, and united in love and service. Along with spiritual activities, we also shared moments of fellowship. Parish picnics were organized at beautiful places around Udaipur, giving families the opportunity to relax, enjoy meals together, and strengthen bonds of friendship. We also fostered unity among Christians in the city by organizing inter-church football matches with members of other Christian denominations in Udaipur. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to our late Bishop Joseph Pathalil and Bishop Devprasad Ganawa for their trust and support. I also thank all the Rev. Fathers who assisted me in carrying out the pastoral and spiritual responsibilities of the parish. As I remember my years in this parish, I feel grateful for the warmth, faith, and unity that I experienced among the people. I extend my special thanks to the Parish Council members, the real think tank without whom I could do nothing. Thanks to all the parishioners too. It was truly a blessing to accompany the faithful in their spiritual journey and to witness the growth of the parish community. May God bless every family of this parish and keep them strong in faith.
